The course Educational Governance is a university-wide compulsory course for all students in teacher education programs, carrying a weight of 2 credits. It discusses the fundamental concepts, characteristics, and evaluation of educational governance based on the principles of good governance, sound governance, dynamic governance, and open governance.

 

Learning Outcomes (Course Competencies):

  1. Students understand the fundamental concepts, characteristics, and evaluation of educational governance.
  2. Students are able to analyze issues and key success factors in educational governance both in general and in specific school contexts.
  3. Students are able to apply educational governance skills to solve governance-related problems in both general and specific educational settings. 

 

Teaching Methods and Assessment:

The course is delivered through a variety of approaches, including:

  1. Lectures
  2. Discussions and Question-Answer Sessions
  3. Document Studies
  4. Individual Assignments
  5. Group Work
  6. Presentations
  7. Midterm Examination (UTS)
  8. Final Examination (UAS)

 

In addition to face-to-face meetings, the course is supported by UNY’s e-learning platform (BeSmart UNY). Student learning outcomes are evaluated through several assignments, including:

  1. One individual assignment: case study analysis on educational governance issues in Indonesia.
  2. One group paper: analysis of governance issues in different parts of the world, presented in class.
  3. One individual assignment: journal review related to educational governance in other countries.
  4. One individual task: designing a governance scheme for education in Indonesia based on online literature.
  5. One midterm examination in the form of a take-home exam.
  6. One final examination in essay format.
