Community Service Program (PkM) on Enhancing School and Learning Management Capacity in Elementary Schools of Kapanewon Nanggulan and Girimulyo, Kulon Progo Regency, 2025

Nanggulan, Kulon Progo — A team of lecturers from the Department of Educational Administration, Faculty of Education, Yogyakarta State University (UNY), consisting of Setya Raharja, Cepi Safruddin Abd Jabar, Tina Rahmawati, Priadi Surya, and Sukirjo, has carried out a Community Service Program (PkM) focusing on enhancing the competence of elementary school principals and teachers in managing e-Performance (e-Kinerja) and implementing the Seven Habits of Great Indonesian Children initiative.

The program aimed to strengthen the capacity of elementary school leaders and teachers in Kapanewon Nanggulan and Kapanewon Girimulyo, enabling them to effectively complete all stages of the e-Performance system and to operationalize student habit-building programs optimally. These initiatives are expected to generate a tangible impact on improving the overall quality of elementary education in the region.

The PkM activities adopted a technical guidance (bimtek) model with an “In-On-In” approach, held at SD Negeri 1 Nanggulan. Participants included school principals and development teams from 25 elementary schools13 schools from Kapanewon Nanggulan and 12 schools from Kapanewon Girimulyo.

The participants demonstrated remarkable enthusiasm throughout the program. Almost all actively engaged in every session, completed the assigned tasks diligently, and participated in presentations and discussions. The program successfully enhanced participants’ understanding of e-Performance implementation and the Seven Habits of Great Indonesian Children.

Beyond improving technical comprehension, the training content was considered highly relevant to the schools’ actual needs. It was found to effectively motivate and empower schools, fostering a sense of independence and self-reliance within educational institutions.

In terms of execution, the activity was characterized by excellent coordination and communication between the service team and the target schools. The schedule aligned well with the schools’ academic calendar, while the expertise and professional attitude of the PkM team received positive recognition from participants.

This community service initiative is expected to serve as a sustainable starting point for strengthening the professional capacity of principals and teachers in Kulon Progo, as well as promoting a culture of educational quality through continued collaboration between universities and schools.
